We’ve been having a very nice weekend and enjoyed a film and did a bit of shopping at Half Price Books. I did have one moment of panic when I went to get my car inspection done and was told the wait would be 40 minutes. I was almost done with the book I had in my purse so I almost put off the car inspection to go back home and get something to read but I risked it and it turned out well as I even had one page left by the time my car was ready. Close call.
While I didn’t find a lot of books at HPB, my husband on the other hand found lots of mysteries in German so he stocked up on his crime thrillers. I did see some Scandinavian authors in his stash.
I got Commencement by J. Courtney Sullivan which is a book I wanted to read after I got to hear the author speak at the Texas Book Festival last year. I also found The Fourth Man by K.O. Dahl which is a Norwegian crime thriller. My other is by Ruth Rendell, a writer who I think does psychological thrillers very well. I got The Water’s Lovely.
It’s been a full weekend of reading, book shopping, yoga and hanging out. I’ve spent very little time online and sometimes that’s really very good don’t you think?
After a day spent largely online working on this or that, I do very much agree that it is nice to unplug once in awhile. I didn’t get near the reading done I had hoped to this Memorial Day weekend, but I did enjoy what I was able to read, so I shouldn’t complain. Hope you have a wonderful week.
I will be interested to see how you like Commencement. It is a good summer read but I remember feeling a bit let down.
It is nice to have a break from the online environment sometimes. My laptop has been in the shop, so I’ve been limited, and it’s a nice break! Glad you had a fun, productive weekend. I would’ve been tempted to cut out on the inspection in favor of stocking my book stash, too. 🙂
I had to smile at this one Iliana since I too, have a sense of panic if I find myself without a book to read. That is why I love my Kindle. I can carry it in my purse for just such an occasion.
I lol at your almost going home to get another book during your car inspection. I too feel like whenever I’m somewhere waiting for something, doctors visits, hair salon…etc…. I should be reading, or its time wasted.

Yes, I think it’s good to take a break. I went offline most of the weekend, too. I haven’t read her in years, since I burned out on mysteries, but I think Ruth Rendell’s books are very good. Hope you enjoy The Water’s Lovely!
Sounds like the perfect weekend for you. We did lots of relaxing as well. I have been reading a lot of fluff lately – all about chick-lit books but I am ready again for something a little more complex! 😉
I was at the HPB sale too! Only found one book, Foreign Correspondence, which I think I owe to you if I am remembering correctly. My husband found two books. Not a greatly successful day but still fun to browse!
I have a library sale to go to tomorrow, so I hope I find a few things myself! Anything by Ruth Rendell is good–I have that one on my shelves as well!
