Happy Halloween
Got the candy ready? I’m ready to welcome trick-or-treaters and then afterwards watch a scary film. We still haven’t decided which one we’ll watch tonight but I can’t wait.
What else is going on? Well this weekend I finally dusted off my bike now that temperatures in Austin aren’t in the 90s & up. We went for a 9 mile ride at the Veloway. That was fun. I read more of The Small Room by May Sarton but I’m only about half way through it. I am looking forward to joining the Slaves for the discussion. And, yes, I’ve been bookbinding a lot.
I only read two books this month. Two. On the one hand, I’m bummed out I only read two books but then I think about all the other projects I’m doing and it’s ok. Right now my energies are a bit more focused on my bookbinding because of the studio tour and perhaps some other craft shows but eventually things will go back to more time for reading. To echo my previous post, it’s all about finding a happy balance.
Oh, I think I heard the doorbell, off to hand out candy. Happy Halloween and more book talk tomorrow.

And nice taste in hats.

November 1st, 2010 at 2:28 amI LOVE your Halloween header and that vintage postcard is too awesome; thanks for making me smile.
BTW…we got ZERO trick or treaters again this year, and the lights are now off…LOL
Have a great week.

November 1st, 2010 at 1:02 pmI only read three books this month and one of those I read in less than two days! But it is all about balance. I’ve been spending more time on the bike trail and catching up around the house. Soon, it’ll be too cold for any outdoor activity and I’ll have all sorts of free time to snuggle up on the couch with a good book.

November 1st, 2010 at 2:32 pmI feel like I am never happy with the amount of books I read either! Life gets in the way though I suppose

November 1st, 2010 at 4:25 pmI love the postcard!
Sheesh, if I could be as creative to do anything crafty, I’d be spending a lot of time with that as well. I’m not very crafty, so I can only read! That’s my only ability to be imaginative!!

November 2nd, 2010 at 2:48 amShelley – She’s pretty sassy isn’t she?

Actually I think you really have to enjoy creating otherwise if it’s a pain or you aren’t finding that it fullfils some part of you then why waste time on it right?
diane – no way! We must have had like 30 kids. It was great. It’s the first time we experience Halloween at our house so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Next year I think I need to buy more candy. I had none left for me!
Veens – Isn’t it cool? I read that Vintage Halloween postcards are really hard to come by so they can be quite pricey at auction. Wish I had this one!
Melody – It was a good weekend but Monday got here very quickly didn’t it?
Nymeth – I have to work on being content. I sometimes try to push too hard and it’s easy to end up feeling overwhelmed or not enough but I think it really is about being ok with what you can accomplish.
Les in NE – You have been doing a lot of biking – so cool! And, yes, I’m looking forward to fall and snuggling in with books and tea. I never drink tea during the summer. Yes, I’m a weirdo
Stephanie – I think it’s because of those towering stacks we have that we feel like it’s never enough right?
Coffee and a Book Chick – Ah, and now I must tell you that we are all creative
Kathleen – It was great. I loved seeing all the little kids in costume. Next year I think I am going to dress up to greet them
