Two Books
We had a rainy afternoon today so it was perfect time to curl up with a good book. Well, two good books. I keep going back and forth between these two:
Awakening seems to be the perfect mystery book to get me out of the slump I’ve had with some mysteries lately. Manservant and Maidservant is for the Slaves discussion coming up July 31. Grab the book and join us.
Oh and I meant to mention that we finally did have our German bread on Monday. Warm from the oven and with Nutella, oh my goodness, so good. For a moment I felt like I was in Germany.
Ok, my books are waiting for me. What about you, what are you reading?

July 29th, 2010 at 3:51 amI’m enjoying Emily’s Ghost by Denise Giardina. I am going to try to finish it for Emily Brontë’s birthday on Friday. After going to Salem, I’m dying to turn to some books set there.

July 29th, 2010 at 3:52 amOoh, your bread sounds so good!! Wish I could have some, hehe.
I’m currently reading Linger and The Cardturner but I’m reading more of the former since that’s the book which I’ve been waiting for a long time!

July 29th, 2010 at 4:00 amWhat kind of German bread is it? I absolutely love brötchen, but you can’t get it around here that I know of. Do you have a recipe?

July 29th, 2010 at 4:52 amDana Huff – Isn’t Salem wonderful? I’ll be looking forward to your review of Emily’s Ghost. The bread my husband made is vollkornbrot. He found the recipe in Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day. The book also has a recipe for brotchen which hopefully we will try soon. And, I understand about not finding the bread. In the 8 years my husband has been in the States he has never found his German bread. Finally, success!
It was really yummy. I’m looking forward to your review of The Cardturner, that book has a great cover!
Melody – Next time I have to take a pic

July 29th, 2010 at 12:52 pmI’ll have to check out the recipe for vollkornbrot in Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day. I don’t know if I’ve ever even had German bread!
I just started listening to The Girl Who Played With Fire. I’m also reading Fly Away Home (Jennifer Weiner) on my iPad. So far, I’m enjoying both!

July 29th, 2010 at 9:07 pmI feel terrible, but I’ve set Manservant aside for the moment. I just can’t concenrtrate on it. Case in point–at the moment I am reading a very fluffy beach sort of book….

July 30th, 2010 at 5:45 amNymeth – I understand. Too many books too little time
Drop in anyway and maybe it’ll motivate you to move the book farther up on the pile! haha…
Girl who Played with Fire is good. I haven’t read any JW in a long time.
Les in NE – It is so yummy. Although granted I love all bread!
Danielle – Don’t worry. That happens! I have had a busy week so I’m hoping to spend time with the book tomorrow because I’m still not very far into it. It’s really fun though I think. Different from what I expected though.
TIffany – Nutella is delicious! You need to try it and if you can put it on a fresh baked bread, still warm. Oh my! I need to read Water for Elephants before the movie comes out!
Kathleen – I agree! They are sort of just perfect for curling up with a book, coffee and a comfy chair. I think I need a weekend of rainy days to get caught up on books

July 30th, 2010 at 7:38 pmHmm. Maybe I need to get back to it–I love the idea of it. I think I just need to get past the first few chapters!
