New Releases & Coming Soon

More ARCs have come my way recently and I wanted to share some of these titles with you. I know some of these books are out and perhaps you’ve already read some of them. I think these all sound good so here’s what I have to look forward to:

  • Mr. Darcy’s Dream by Elizabeth Aston. There seem to be a lot of Jane Austen inspired books lately. Has anyone counted? Anyway, this one is about Phoebe, a young niece of Mr. Darcy, who is shattered by an unhappy romance.
  • Sleepwalking In Daylight by Elizabeth Flock. A novel about a stay-at-home mom who finds that her life is now just running errands, car pools and suburban gossip. Is this all there is to her life?
  • Pieces of Me by Charlotte Gingras. A young adult novel about a lonely girl who takes comfort in the company of books. This book won the Governor General’s Literary Award when it was first published in French.
  • The Age of Shiva by Manil Suri. According to the notes on the back this is a provocative, compelling page-turner. I read his first book many years ago and really liked it so I am hoping this will be another winner.
  • Bloodprint by Kitty Sewell. This psychological thriller takes the reader from the tropical lushness of Key West to the imposing Georgian streets of Bath where two women and their painful pasts collide dangerously with Cuban sorcery, prostitution, and coldhearted murder.

So as you can see I’ve got a lot of books to keep me busy this weekend. I hope you are involved with some great stories too. Have a great weekend and more book talk soon.

    I don’t know how you read all those books so quickly! Life gets in the way of my reading hard books…audio books, on the other hand, are great for multi tasking! I’ve not heard of any of these above. Bloodprint sounds great! Sleepwalking in Daylight sounds like my life!

    They all sound wonderful. I’m going to spend my weekend finishing up the stack of books I’m in the middle of. Then I need to spend some time writing up reviews of stuff I finished all ready.

    There have been a lot of Jane Austen-inspired books lately; I’ve got three on my shelf that need to get read. (Hopefully, they’ll be good.)

    You’re right….there are tons of Jane Austen inspired books lately! Amazing that there are so many new ideas!

    The Age of Shiva looks really good…so does Sleepwalking in Daylight.

    I also have the Manil Suri book. I loved his first novel and have high expectations for this one. I also have some good books lined up, though I hope to catch up on blog reading first.

    Wow! That’s a lot of ARCs. Sounds a bit like my house! :) I should make a list of all the books I’ve acquired in the past month or so. Might work out for a Thursday Thirteen, and then some! :)

    Sandy – Oh believe I won’t make a dent into any of these books this weekend. I’m still working through some of my other reads :) Oh well, it’s nice to dream though right! ha. Hope you are having a great one!
    Ladytink – I get the feeling I’m really going to like it. I’d never heard of it so I was really pleased to get that ARC. It’s pretty slim too so maybe I’ll get to it soon!
    Melanie – I have been a bit busy this weekend so far with other things so I haven’t gotten to my reading as much but hopefully tomorrow I’ll make a dent. Hope you are having fun with your reads!
    Melissa – I have at least 3 that I can think of but there may be more! I kind of like the idea but my problem is that I actually haven’t read P&P or S&S so I feel like I’m seriously missing out on something if I read the sequels.
    jenclair – And, actually my copy of that book is very pretty so definitely eye-catching too :) Enjoy the weekend!
    Amy – Isn’t it crazy? I mean, I think it’s great. I wonder though if it’s mainly P&P that’s producing all the fanfic or if it’s also from other Austen books.
    Danielle – Wasn’t the first book great? I do remember being a bit lost with the “mythology” part but the characters felt so real. And, yea, I also need to catch up blogs this weekend :)

    I’ve heard of Kitty Sewell but haven’t had the chance to read any of her books. These all sound interesting!

    The book industry doesn’t seem to get enough of Austen spin-off books. Especially Pride and Prejudice. :)

    tanabata – I think Pieces of Me is the one I’ll start with next. I was a bit let down by my recent “women’s fiction” book choice so hopefully this is better.
    Samantha – I hadn’t heard of her before and this book kind of sounds like it’s all over the place which could be good or well maybe not! Hopefully it’ll be good :)
    bookworm – Does sound cute doesn’t it? :)
    priscilla – I’m really looking forward to that one. Pretty cover too!
    Matt – See, that’s my problem starting any of them too, I haven’t read P&P! I feel like I need to start where it all started :)

    These sound great! I agree that there are a lot of Jane Austen sequels coming out these days. I’ve come across some good ones, and that’s always a treat!
