Clearing Off

I can see my studio table!

studiotable

You guys, I have not seen the top of my big table since around October. Yes, there are a couple of books on it but I can see my paper trimmer and my board cutter and I have empty space.  My smaller table is another matter. My weekend was dedicated to organizing my craft studio/library. I still have a ways to go as books are on the floor and double-stacked, and not to mention that my craft supplies are also overflowing but that is a project for another time.

I’m just excited that I have a table again and I can look forward to doing a bit of crafting next weekend. I took a break from crafting at the end of December as I was worn out from the shows and holiday season but I am looking forward to coming up with new books, creating my favorite journals and exploring other crafty projects.

What else did I do this weekend? Read of course. I am half way through Doctor Glas and I also picked up The Girl On the Cliff by Lucinda Riley. It’s been months since I’ve juggled books. Actually I think most of last year I was reading one book at a time but it’s kind of fun to start reading this way again. This way I can always have a book just for the mood I’m in.

We also spent a bit of time at the bookstore but I was bummed out that they didn’t have the latest Somerset Studio on the magazine rack. Maybe on our next visit I’ll find it. I’m already looking forward to that.

Sniffle, Cough, Repeat

The last few days I’ve been getting over a cold and you would think that meant a lot of reading as I rested but all I wanted to do was watch tv and look through magazines but now that I’m feeling better and I’m back to the books.

I’m close to the end of The Lie by Petra Hammesfahr and I really liked this book at the beginning but I feel like the intensity has sort of leveled off and now I ready for the last page. Granted this could have been that I broke away from reading it when I got sick. I guess it won’t be until I finish it that I really know how I feel about this book so I’ll keep you posted.

Last night I started reading Doctor Glas by Hjalmar Söderberg For the upcoming Slaves of Golconda discussion and although I’m only about 10 pages into the book, I really like it. Doctor Glas is going to be an interesting character I think.

Anyway it’s almost the weekend and I’m really looking forward to it. No big plans or anything but just enjoying my books and probably a stop at the bookstore. I hope you all enjoy your weekend pursuits!

Found

I hope you’ve all enjoyed a wonderful weekend. For the first time in months, I felt like I had a free Saturday. No commitments, no scheduled plans, no deadlines, no work. And, you know what I did? I went to yoga and read. Those were my major accomplishments for the day and I loved it!

Sunday we had a few errands to run and as one of those errands happened to take us by BookPeople I had to go in for a quick peek and I’m happy to report I found the latest BookPage. Every month I could count on picking this up at BookPeople but for the past couple of months they haven’t had it. I know I can read it on the web but I much prefer a paper copy. So I was very happy to find it again.

I’ve already added these books from the BookPage recommendations to my reading list: Sideways On A Scooter, Radio Shangri-La, The Uninvited Guests and The Lifeboat. I always go through BookPage a couple of times so who knows what else I’ll add to my reading list.

So far I can say the reading year is off to a good start as I’ve already finished two good books and have started another. Here’s to finding more good books and more free hours for reading and relaxing.
