Link-O-Rama

A short post tonight because I have got to start my book for my mystery book group meeting on Tuesday. I think I told you I’m leading the discussion. Maybe I should just bring some yummy dessert and they’ll forget I’m supposed to lead the discussion. Ha.

Anyway, I’ve been saving some of these links and thought you guys would get a kick out of them:

  • My wonderful friend Christine recently told me about Her Royal Majesty. Have you guys read this publication? I hadn’t heard about this before so I’m looking forward to checking out some of the articles.
  • I know a lot of you collect bookmarks and I’ve found these funky bookmarks on Etsy. I especially love the Zombie Hands and the Witches’ Shoes. Aren’t they great?
  • Late last year Faber & Faber released these beautiful poetry books. I’d love to add these to my poetry shelf.
  • Finally, who doesn’t love a video about books? You must check out these two videos The Page Turner and The Joy of Books. Seriously, I could watch these over and over again.

Hope you have a great weekend and wish me luck and finishing my book.

Sweet Dreams

I was planning to do a review today but it’s been a long day and I’m looking forward to climbing in bed with a good book in a moment so here’s a sweet little poem for now.

The Land of Nod by Robert Louis Stevenson

From Breakfast on through all the day
At home among my friends I stay,
But every night I go abroad
Afar into the land of Nod.

All by myself I have to go,
With none to tell me what to do–
All alone beside the streams
And up the mountain-sides of dreams.

The strangest things are there for me,
Both things to eat and things to see,
And many frightening sights abroad
Till morning in the land of Nod.

Try as I like to find the way,
I never can get back by day,
Nor can remember plain and clear
The curious music that I hear.

Goodnight blog friends and more bookish talk tomorrow!

Checked Out

I went to the library today looking for a few books. I really wanted to catch up on some of the mysteries by Arnaldur Indridason but no luck. Then I looked for some graphic novels and there weren’t any that really caught my attention. Finally, I thought well how about a S. J. Bolton book? I’ve liked her thrillers. The only ones on the shelf were once I had already read.

Does this mean I left empty-handed? Oh no. I have been limiting myself to only three books at a time but once I started going up and down the aisles it was hard to keep to my limit. Here’s what I got:

So let’s see just how many I actually do read before they are all due back on January 31. Can you believe the 31? I feel like the year just started.
