February Statistics

I removed the link for the Classics Challenge. Did you notice I only read one book? I really wanted to do that one but other books kept getting in the way. Congrats to those of you who did finish the Challenge and thank you to Booklogged for organizing that. Who knows, maybe next time I’ll do better.

So this month I read six books and four of those came from my stacks. Yay. Granted I keep buying books so the unread stacks don’t seem to go down. Ever.

Here’s what I read:
New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
Girls of Tender Age by Mary Ann Tirone Smith (my review)
Except the Dying by Maureen Jennings (my review)
Sleep Toward Heaven by Amanda Eyre Ward
Love is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield (my review)
The Myth of You and Me by Leah Stewart

Two non-fiction reads! That’s quite something for me. It’s hard to pick favorites from this list but Girls of Tender Age is really a standout. We all know that I love Edward Cullen but there wasn’t nearly enough of him in New Moon. I think I found a new favorite detective in the Maureen Jennings series. Sadly, I was disappointed with Myth of You and Me. I promise to post more on that later and I can’t wait for the discussion over at Written Word in a few weeks.

For now I’m working through four books but I’m looking forward to the other reads March will bring.

Best Magazines?

I found the list of the 51 best magazines according to Good Magazine. Have you seen the list? National Geographic is on it and so is The New Yorker. Okay, some good stuff and they did mention Sassy. Ah, I remember that one. That was actually my first magazine subscription.

What I want to know is where is Utne? Where’s Bitch? And, what about Bust? I’m sorry but to me that list is incomplete without those. I mean, People Magazine got on this list but not one of my favorites? Sigh. Did one of your favorites get shafted? Tell me.

On an unrelated note, I’m so excited because I bought a book cradle today. Yay! I’ve been meaning to get one of these thingies for a long time. Just makes it easier to punch my book signatures to get them ready for sewing. I can’t wait until it arrives.
