Book Swap

I’d heard about Paperback Swap but didn’t realize there were other sites where book are swapped until I read this article. There is Title Trader and Frugal Reader in the U.S. and in the U.K. there is Read it Swap it.

Sounds like a good idea right? My only concern is that you’d only find titles by Clancy, Grisham and King on the swapping web sites. I’d love to hear if any of you have tried these sites and what you think about them.

On a different note, look at these intriguing mysteries that are just out. I do love mysteries set in foreign locales.

Discover New Books

I know you won’t believe this but I forgot to take a book to work with me for my lunch time reading. So poor little me had to go to Barnes & Noble for lunch. What hardship. Hee,hee.

I bought the latest issue of Somerset Studio, which I just need to subscribe to and stop buying off the rack. And, lucky me, I found the Spring Issue of the Discover Great New Writers newsletter that Barnes & Noble publishes. I know you can read it online but I prefer the actual copy. Here are the books that caught my attention (check the link above to see a synopsis of each book):

The Widow’s War
Cliffs of Despair
Paradise Travel
In the Time of Madness
White Ghost Girls
Against Gravity
Loved Walked In

Actually most of the books in the catalog sound good. Any books you are looking forward to this Spring?

Breakfast & Books

We spent Saturday morning at Borders enjoying tea and coffee and books of course. I saw some new crafty books that I’ve decided I must get. Here’s one and another.

I eagerly read Body & Soul magazine because one of the featured articles was on how to be a morning person. That’s for me! The article had a lot of great tips – look at natural light first thing in the morning, take a couple of minutes to stretch and meditate, etc. But, you know, if I could go to the bookstore every morning and start off my day like we did on Saturday I can assure you I would become a morning person.

The rest of the weekend I spent working on crafts, reading and writing letters. I also added a book review, for Solomon vs. Lord by Paul Levine, which I highly recommend.

I hope you have a great start of the week. I am off to try and get ahead in some of my book group reads.
